Problem Statement
Manual transfer of Outlook emails and attachments across siloed systems wastes support staff time, duplicating work and risking data errors.
Project Summary
To streamline support operations, a custom Microsoft Outlook VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for Office) Plugin was developed for 2pifi. This plugin integrates with Outlook’s UI and enhances the workflow of customer support agents, enabling them to interact efficiently with internal APIs and tools.
Key Features
Email Attachment Integration
- Enables support staff to easily extract and attach files from Outlook emails
- Provides a user-friendly interface to select and send attachments to multiple internal systems
Custom WinForms Interface
- Developed using Windows Forms, embedded within the Outlook ribbon
- Presents a clean, guided UI for:
- Selecting API endpoints
- Sending selected data (text or attachments)
- Providing authentication or integration tokens
API Integration Framework
- Supports multiple dynamic API integrations
- Headers and parameters
- API URLs
- Payload selection (email body, subject, metadata, attachments)
- Includes error handling and success/failure notification for requests
- Users can configure
Enhanced Data Extraction
- Allows copying structured data from the email content (e.g., subject lines, sender info, message body)
- Sends this data in customizable formats to support systems or dashboards for improved case tracking
